Smith was indicted by the U.S. Government charged with binary options fraud and signed a plea agreement. He testified against the former Yukom CEO Lee Elbaz. He was sentenced to a one-year prison term and some $500,000 restitution payment.
Austin Smith was also the founder of Wealth Recovery International (WRI) a funds recovery company focused on binary options. Smith hat his partner the American-Israeli attorney Tamar “Tammi” Hamm. The U.S. prosecutors uncovered that WRI actually addressed former clients of Smith that were scammed by him in his capacity as VP of Numaris.
